La banda sueca At The Gates ha presentado su primer material inédito desde el fallecimiento de su vocalista y figura clave del metal extremo, Tomas Lindberg, ocurrido en septiembre del año pasado. El grupo ha anunciado el lanzamiento de su nuevo álbum de estudio, titulado The Ghost Of A Future Dead, y ha estrenado el emotivo single “The Fever Mask”, acompañado de un video oficial.
El disco, que será publicado el 24 de abril de 2026, representa el último trabajo grabado por Lindberg junto a la banda y fue escrito y registrado dos años antes de que el cantante revelara públicamente su diagnóstico de carcinoma adenoide quístico, una forma de cáncer oral.

En un comunicado oficial, At The Gates explicó que el álbum estaba completamente terminado desde hace más de dos años y que su lanzamiento respeta los deseos expresos de Tomas Lindberg.
“Estamos orgullosos de compartir finalmente noticias sobre nuestro octavo álbum de estudio, The Ghost Of A Future Dead. El álbum se lanzará el 24 de abril de 2026, más de dos años después de haber sido completado en el estudio.
Como todos saben, Tomas Lindberg falleció el año pasado debido a complicaciones derivadas de su tratamiento contra el cáncer. Durante los últimos años trabajamos estrechamente con Tomas, revisando cada detalle para que nada quedara al azar.
Siguiendo sus deseos —incluyendo el título, la mezcla, el orden de las canciones y el arte— este disco se mantiene fiel a la esencia de At The Gates. Este álbum es el legado de Tomas”.
“The Fever Mask”, primer adelanto del álbum
El single “The Fever Mask” ofrece un anticipo del sonido del nuevo trabajo, combinando la energía feroz y las melodías intensas que caracterizan a la banda desde sus inicios.
El videoclip oficial, dirigido por Patric Ullaeus, funciona como un homenaje visual a Tomas Lindberg y refuerza el carácter emotivo del lanzamiento.
Pioneros del sonido de Gotemburgo
Formados en 1990 en Gotemburgo, Suecia, At The Gates son considerados una de las bandas fundamentales en el desarrollo del melodic death metal. Junto a grupos como In Flames y Dark Tranquillity, ayudaron a consolidar el llamado “sonido de Gotemburgo”, que influyó profundamente en la evolución del metal extremo durante las décadas siguientes.
Tras una primera etapa activa hasta 1996, la banda se separó antes de reunirse temporalmente en 2007 y 2008. En 2010 retomaron su actividad de forma estable, publicando siete álbumes de estudio hasta la fecha, incluyendo The Nightmare Of Being (2021), ampliamente elogiado por su enfoque experimental y arriesgado.
